Progression
When I was 9 Years old my parents got divorced. Obviously very scared, I didn’t know what to do or expect. I knew that someone was going to move out and get a new house and maybe both of them would get remarried or just be with someone else in general. Needless to say, I was sad and scared.
At the time I went to a school called Prince of Peace that I was very comfortable at. A few years later my mom was getting remarried and for some reason I thought I was losing her. I started to not do as well in school and ended the year with all C’s.
As my sister graduated 8th grade we heard a new highschool was being built and that if we moved into the area Megan’s class would be the first 4 year graduating class. For me, this meant that driving to Prince of Peace was 25 minutes away. One thing lead to another and eventually my mom and I were talking about me going to a middle school in the area called Mission Trail.
The idea of moving to a new school in 7th grade was terrifying. I knew that everyone had already had their friend groups since elementary school and those who hadn’t found their groups in elementary school had all of 6th grade to. I knew it would be challenging, but I decided the best thing for me was to go to MT.
Some time passed and it was my first day at MT. I walking into school and was extremely anxious. I remember leaning over the balcony and looking down at all of the kids and almost passing out because of how overwhelmed I was. As my first day there continued, it just got better and better. More and more time passed and I made some friendships and lost some friendships but eventually I was right where I wanted to be.
I became a part of the friend group I’m in now and to this day it still feels like I’ve known them my entire life. My step-dad and I are now so close and my friends couldn’t be better. I’m so so lucky to be where I am now and if I learned anything it’s that things DO get better.
