COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation

I, like many people, am very eager to get the coronvirus vaccine. For me the vaccine symbolizes the “end” of this dreadful pandemic. Although the vaccine won’t make the pandemic go away, it is “95% effective” according to Dr. Anothony Fauci.

The phases of the vaccine are as follows:

First, the vaccine will be given to frontline doctors, nurses, first responders, nursing home workers, and people that have 2 or more underlying health conditions affected by COVID-19.

Next will be teachers, school staff members, childcare workers, and those working in the food supply chain.

Third includes adults and children ages 30 and younger.

Last is everyone else living in the United States.

There is a lot of grey area with these phases in my opinion. I work at Spin Pizza so am I in the second phase or the third phase? Also I wonder why people younger than 30 get it before people aged 31 and beyond.

A COVID-19 vaccine definitely gives me and many others a sense of hope to get back to some form of normality. With there being a few vaccines out now and more to come, the distribution process is bound to speed up and be more easily accessible very soon.

There are many rumors that everyone will have the vaccine by summer of 2021 and man do I hope those are true! I can’t wait to play volleyball, go to the lake, play tennis, play pickleball, go to parties, and most of all go on vacation again. COVID-19 definitely has caused some setbacks but a vaccine gives hope to America.
